Over Eating & Binge Eating

Overeating and binge eating are often far more complex than simply “lacking willpower”. For many people, food becomes a way of coping with stress, overwhelm, boredom, emotional discomfort, or nervous system dysregulation. Binge eating can also commonly go hand in hand with ADHD, where impulsivity, dopamine-seeking behaviours, emotional overwhelm, and difficulties with regulation can all contribute to challenging patterns around food. Past trauma and adverse life experiences may also play a significant role, with emotional and psychological attachments to food often rooted much deeper beneath the surface.
What’s most important is that we approach this with compassion, understanding, and without shame. This is not something you chose to experience, and if it were simply a matter of “trying harder”, there would not be millions of people struggling silently with overeating, binge eating, and weight difficulties. Healing comes from understanding the root cause — not punishment or blame.

How can I help you heal your relationship with food?
Together we will:
- Explore current patterns of behaviour, seeking to identify triggers.
- Discover the underlying thoughts and feelings leading to over eating or binging.
- Develop coping strategies to assist with reducing over eating.
- Consider root cause and work with the subconscious mind to do inner healing.
- Focus on mindset exercises to build inner strength and resilience.
- Meet your need to self sooth your nervous system with EFT and polyvagal theory.
- Challenge unhelpful beliefs around food rules and accept all foods without judgement.
- Use EMDR and hypnotherapy, if desired, to heal past hurt or trauma and really embed new ways of thinking with the subconscious.
- Learn what impact diet culture has had for you and know what tactics to avoid in the future.
- Develop a very personalised approach to gently supporting your nutritional needs.
- Focus on mindful and intuitive eating to help the body to relearn hunger and full signals
- Rewrite your beliefs about your weight and build a positive image of self.
- Explore the wider impact of your eating issues and develop life goals with tactical steps.

What to expect after working with me
Regain control of your life and let go of self-sabotage for good! You will no longer be dominated by food, binging, restriction or rules. Your life will feel free and you’ll have much more head space for whatever your heart desires. Diet culture will be a distant memory for you and it will not hold you back any longer. You will see that brave, confident version of you that’s been hiding away for too long start to emerge. This is just the beginning. Once you find food freedom who knows where life will take you.
What stage are you at?

Thinking about therapy but a little unsure
Dip your toe in the water with a revelation session with no commitment. This is a three hour, intense explorative journey with an introduction to the therapeutic tools most suitable for you. No further therapy or coaching may be required thereafter whilst others will benefit from sign posting to other services. For some it may lead to working with myself for a period of time.

Ready to dive right in and work together 1:1
Amazing! Lets do this! Sessions can be purchased in a bundle with two different options of duration. Deciding which duration is the important decision and I would encourage you to think about just how much change it is that you are wanting to achieve. As well as that, ask yourself for how long has your relationship with food been an issue and to what extent has it impacted your life.
